Celebrating the Legendary Journey of the TVS Apache
The birth and evolution of TVS Apache series exemplify TVS Racing heritage. Leveraging our motorsport expertise through the TVS Racing division, every Apache packs race-bred technology. This is in line with our Track-to-Road philosophy, and as a result, every Apache delivers unmatched performance and razor-sharp handling. One twist of the throttle and you will feel the thrill of racing in your veins!
From dominating Indian roads to winning hearts in Columbia, Mexico, PAN-Africa, Europe and South East Asia; the legend of the TVS Apache has gone global while proudly showcasing its Indian roots.
Rewinding the Journey of the TVS Apache
2005: The First Ever Apache
This is when this unstoppable machine was born. TVS Apache 150 IE Surge came into picture and instantly became popular thanks to a first-of-its-kind engine, sporty riding dynamics, and strong performance on offer.
2007-2008: Apache RTR 160
This was the moment when the legend made its presence felt – TVS Apache RTR 160 roared onto the scene, flaunting its RTR badging - “Racing Throttle Response” in its moniker. This new performance bike was more powerful, better equipped, more agile, and came with front Petal disc brakes. Launched more than 15 years ago, its latest avatar is still burning rubber as one of the bestselling Apache motorcycles ever.
2009: Apache RTR 180
After establishing a strong foothold in the 150 cc segment, TVS Motor cranked up the adrenaline, answering the call for more power and staying true to its Racing heritage. The company unveiled the all new Apache RTR 180 with a brand new engine that offered a peak performance output of 16.7 PS | 15.5 Nm. With so much power on tap, this new Apache has led this segment right from the time it was introduced.
2011 - 2012: Apache RTR 180 & 160 Get a Bold New Attitude
In 2011, TVS Apache RTR 180 rewrote the rulebook as India’s first homegrown bike to feature dual-channel ABS. It also featured LED headlight & DRL with chiselled fuel tank extensions for better heat dissipation.
Meanwhile, Apache RTR 160 received single-channel ABS, making this dynamic duo the go-to-choice for riders chasing style and performance.
The following year marked significant design upgrades for both Apache RTR 180 and Apache RTR 160.

- Faux carbon inserts on the fuel tank and around the instrument cluster.
- Redesigned seats, side panels, crash guard and rear mudguard.
- Muscular tank scoops and race-inspired air intakes for sportier appearance.
2016: Apache RTR 200 4V Debut
Influenced by the aggressive TVS Draken concept, TVS Apache RTR 200 stormed the streets in 2016 with a muscular and European design. It was more sculpted, fiercely agile and engineered to dominate every ride with streetfighter attitude and race-bred precision. It instantly made waves in the 200cc segment as it was the brand’s first-ever bike to feature a monoshock suspension, Race Tuned Slipper Clutch, Dual Channel ABS and Rear Wheel Lift-Off Protection.
2017: Apache RR 310 Debut - Track-Bred Power, Street-Ready Thrill
Inspired by the aggressive “Akula 310” concept, the TVS Apache RR 310 made its debut in December 2017 as the ultimate expression of racing pedigree and unleashed a new era of performance. Every detail from its shark-inspired silhouette and cutting-edge technology announced a machine crafted for those who demand nothing less than the extraordinary.

Apache RTR 200 4V Upgrade (2018)
In 2018, TVS Apache RTR 200 4V took the Racing DNA to the next level with the introduction of a Fuel Injection system (RT-FI), slipper clutch, and ABS. The introduction of RT-FI delivered razor-sharp throttle response and consistent power delivery. It was also the first Apache to feature the state-of-the-art SmartXonnect.
Apache RTR 160 4V Debut (2018)
Staying true to its racing pedigree, in March 2018, TVS Motor unveiled the Apache RTR 160 4V, its most powerful 160cc bike. It came with a fully digital speedometer, forward bias stance, and mono-shock suspension that is engineered and tuned with race-spec aspects of INMRC race machine - Apache RTR 165 RP.
The aggressive, forward-biased stance and muscular tank extensions embody pure racing intent, while the advanced mono-shock suspension, precision tuned with race-spec dynamics ensure razor-sharp handling and agility in every corner.

2019: Super Moto ABS Joins TVS Apache RTR 160 & 180
The Super Moto ABS has been developed by TVS Motor with advanced R&D, real-world testing and a unique algorithm derived directly from TVS’ expertise on racetrack. This empowers the racer to find the fastest line around the corner without losing speed.
In 2019, TVS Apache RTR 160 (2V & 4V) and Apache RTR 180 were updated with Super Moto ABS, making it standard across the TVS Apache series.
In October 2020, the TVS Apache series hit the 4 million sales mark!
2020: Transitioning into BS6, Bringing Race-Inspired Aesthetics
In order to meet the BS6 emission norms, all the models of TVS Apache series were upgraded with BS6 engines which featured Race Tuned Fuel Injection (RT-Fi) for improved refinement, power delivery and fuel efficiency.
- TVS Apache RTR 160 4V and 200 4V were upgraded with Aggressive Claw Styled LED Headlamp and DRL.
- Race-Inspired New Graphics and aerodynamic Claw Mirrors were added to TVS Apache series.
- GTT (Glide Through Technology) was introduced in the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
2021: Factory Crafted for You - TVS Apache BTO Debut
In August 2021, TVS Motor launched the Built-To-Order platform for Apache RR 310. This option enabled customers to personalize and customize their vehicle directly at the factory level with pre-defined performance kits and an option to choose individual components to create their own track ready machine. Here are the two kits.

- Fully adjustable KYB suspension with 20-step compression/rebound
- Rear mono-shock with 20-step rebound and 10-step preload adjustment

2023: RTR Legacy, Reborn - Apache RTR 310 Takes Charge
On September 6, 2023, TVS Apache RTR 310 roared onto the streets, embodying the pure spirit of a street fighter. It features a sharp and aggressive design with a hunkered down stance, advanced electronics and ground-breaking tech on offer. It keeps the essence of performance but stripped everything else away to give you a naked sports bike that’s engineered for play, while staying true to the TVS Racing legacy.

In February 2023, TVS Apache series reached a global sales figure of 5 million units.
2024: Apache RTR 160 Racing Edition
In July 2024, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V made its mark with new features and all-new striking colour shade along with faux carbon fibre inserts accentuating the number plate, tail section, side panels and tank.

2024: TVS Apache RTR 160 4V (USD)
In 2024, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V series was updated with a new range-topping variant featuring 37mm upside-down (USD) front forks. The race-inspired forks not only amplify Apache’s aggressive stance but also deliver razor-sharp handling. The USD forks are designed to swiftly react to bumps and road imperfections, offering a smooth and stable ride quality, especially at high speeds or sharp turns.

A New Era Of Power
In December 2024, TVS Motor introduced its brand new engine platform - TVS RT-XD4, a revolutionary race-tuned engine platform that is completely developed in-house by TVS Motor. It is designed for precise power delivery and all-range torque, and is expected to power the upcoming TVS performance bikes.
This new platform features 4-valve DOHC architecture with downdraft port, enabling higher revs and peak performance exactly when you need it. The engine gets a plasma-coated cylinder, which reduces friction and weight. At the same time, it manages the thermal stability while enhancing the overall power output.
This platform is poised to deliver thrilling performance, unmatched refinement, and precision for a dynamic riding experience. While the production-spec model is yet to be confirmed, this concept is a hint at TVS’s exciting vision for the future of motorcycling in India, and will be a leap forward for the TVS Racing division.
2025: BTO Upgrade – Your Ride, Reinvented
With upgraded Built-To-Order (BTO) format, TVS Apache RR 310 now get a couple of new performance features and new colour option. The upgraded BTO format is available with two BTO kit options.
- Dynamic Kit: This kit lets the racer delve into the unexplored with fully adjustable KYB front suspension and rear mono-shock shock absorber. This kit also features a factory-fitted anti-rust brass-coated chain for superior performance output. Keeping in mind the safety of the racers, TVS has added a tyre pressure monitoring system to the kit.
- Dynamic Pro Kit: Crafted for those who aspire to reach every apex, this race package
now features RT-DSC controlled by 6D IMU offering:-
- Launch Control (New)
- Cornering Drag Torque Control (New)
- Cornering ABS
- Traction Control
- Cruise Control
- Wheelie Control
- Rear Wheel lift-off protection.

In April 2025, the TVS Apache series hit 6 million in global sales.
