TVS Radeon isn’t just a regular commuter; it is a statement of durability and practicality. While it may be popular for its strong performance and road presence, TVS Radeon has been awarded the highest fuel economy in the segment (India APEAL Study 2025).
Engineered to lead in fuel efficiency, the real-world mileage you extract from your Damdaar bike depends on more than just the engine.
Here’s how you can maximise your TVS Radeon’s mileage.
Master the “ECO” Zone
Right below the speedometer, the twin light represents your riding style (Eco with green | Power with Red).
How do you maintain “Eco” for maximum average from your TVS Radeon? Let's find out.
-
● Acceleration – gentle acceleration with gradual and smooth pickup ensures green light glows constantly. Pushing the throttle hard will turn it into Power (red) even at low speeds.
-
● Speed band – cruising at 50-60km/h with gentle throttle operation in 4th gear is the sweet spot for Radeon’s engine. In 4th gear, 5000-6000 rpm, Radeon can maintain a cruising speed of 60km/h with minimal stress on the engine.
Tyre Pressure
An optimum tyre pressure ensures the engine is at ease, even if with pillion and luggage loaded. To extract the maximum mileage per litre, your Radeon should always be on an optimum tyre pressure.
-
● Weekly Check – tyres on regular usage lose 1-2 Psi every few days. So, a weekly checkup and once in 15 days air top-up is recommended for the TVS Radeon.
-
● Tyre pressure rule – for Radeon, the recommended tyre pressure is –
|
Front tyre |
30-32 PSI |
|
Rear tyre |
36 PSI |
Since the rear tyre carries more load (close to 60% of total weight), this increased load force accelerates the natural escape of air. As a result, the rear tyre may lose pressure faster than the front.
Ensure Smooth Gear Shift
TVS Radeon’s engine and transmission have been tuned for strong low-to-mid range torque, and the power is readily available without pushing the engine too hard.
The engine’s sweet spot for maximum fuel efficiency is 3000-6000 RPM. Keeping the bike within this threshold ensures minimal stress on the engine.
Here’s an optimal gear shift pattern for TVS Radeon.
-
● 1st gear – It is just to get the bike into momentum, or extremely slow crawling. Riding constantly in 1st gear hampers the fuel efficiency.
-
● 2nd gear – calibrated for low-speed manoeuvring in heavy traffic. This gear is extremely torque-heavy, and it supports the bike to surge to cruising speeds.
-
● 3rdgear – it is primarily preferred for city traffic & medium speed crawling (30-40km/h). In city riding, medium speed cruising in 3rd gear at 3000-5000rpm is ideal for maximum mileage.
-
● 4th gear – it is the highest/cruising gear with a wide torque spread. Cruising at 50-60km/h in 4th gear - the engine is at maximum ease, ensuring optimal fuel efficiency.

Timely Maintenance
An engine running on clean oil ensures low friction, and a clean air filter ensures the engine breathes easily. So, your TVS Radeon must run on clean and healthy consumables for both engine longevity and fuel efficiency.
-
● Service schedule –
Free service schedule : The TVS Radeon has five free services scheduled at 500–750 km/1 month, 2500–3000 km/3 months, 5000–6000 km/6 months, 8500–9000 km/9 months, and 11500–12000 km/12 months—based on kilometres or time, whichever is earlier.
Paid service schedule : Service of the bike every 3000 km or 3 months, whichever is earlier.
-
● Tyre health – check for the tread depth indicator or visible cracks. Rubber degrades over time. So, even with low mileage, the tyres do need replacement.
-
● Clutch play – clutch slippage or free clutch is a silent mileage killer. It makes the engine rev hard, yet power isn’t transmitted effectively to the wheels, draining fuel and stressing clutch plates. During servicing, make sure the clutch lever is tuned to the optimum position.
By mastering the ECO Zone, timely servicing, and riding with the right tyre pressure, you will unlock its true mileage potential. So, gear up, ride smart and make every drop of fuel take you further on your journey.
