TVS Ntorq 125 cc is the epitome of performance when it comes to off-the-line acceleration, top speed and track-focused ergonomics. This story began a few years back when TVS Motor started developing a new platform, particularly targeting young riders with stylish designs and some of the features that were never seen before in this segment, all within an affordable price range and a reliable ownership experience.
The Origin
It was around 2016 when a specific team at TVS Motor was aligned to create a platform that was supposed to be the company’s first single-cylinder 3-valve architecture engine paired with the tried and tested CVT transmission. This is the first scooter to come out of this initiative with over 10 Bhp in power in the sub 125 cc category and an impressive top speed for TVS Ntorq.
When it was launched in 2018, the Ntorq clocked a 10,00,000 sales milestone within 4 years and was consistently selling in big numbers while also climbing up the charts. Such a great response from the market helped it bag the prestigious Autocar India Scooter of the Year Award in FY2019.
These impressive sales were followed by consistent upgrades bought to the platform from time to time. Here is a time frame of the updates: -
● 2018 saw the launch of TVS Ntorq, setting a benchmark for performance as it was the first scooter from TVS Motor to come equipped with the patented CVTi-REVV technology and a fully digital instrument cluster along with the first-in-segment to feature voice assistant.
● The updated 2020 variant started arriving at the dealership with the new BS6-compliant engine as per the Govt. norms. It featured an all-new exhaust system, an LED headlight, a fresh paint scheme and a new alloy design. The same year, TVS Motor added a new edition to the lineup - TVS Ntorq X Marvel Super Squad edition.
● In the second half of 2021, the TVS Ntorq lineup had a newcomer to welcome in the form of Race XP Edition which had a higher top speed and more torque. The scooter is claimed to deliver a class-leading 10 bhp, an option of a new three-tone colour scheme and red-coloured alloy wheels, and a newly tweaked engine that offered TVS Ntorq a higher top speed.
● The 2022 iteration saw subtle tweaks in design. The Ntorq lineup got a new colour, “Marine Blue” with a combination of metallic black, metallic blue and black. SmartXonnect was also updated; the Ntorq now possesses over 60 connected features.
