TVS Motorcycle clocks 22% rise in sales in August 2005

Buoyed by 22% increase in motorcycle sales, TVS Motor Company's total two wheeler sales in August 2005 stood at 103,063 units compared to 89,500 units, during the same period last year recording a growth of 15%.

The total motorcycle sales in August 2005 stood at 59,675 units compared to 49,020 units in the same period last year recording a growth of 22%.

The Company is launching three new products this week to cash in on the forthcoming festival season demand. The new products are two variants of motorcycles and a variant of scooterette.

The Scooterette sales witnessed a growth of 18% clocking 21,873 units in August 2005 compared to 18,576 units last year. TVS Scooty brand continues to be the market leader in the sub 100 cc Scooterette segment.

Moped sales stood at 21,515 units in August 2005 compared to 21,904 units in the same period last year. The company continues to enjoy market leadership in the moped segment.

In the export front, TVS Motor Company recorded 6,430 units in August 2005, recording a growth of 44% compared to the same period last year.
