TVS Motor Company posts 2 % growth in June 2008; Exports grow at 64%; Motorcycles post 9% growth
TVS Motor Company has posted 2% growth
registering total two wheeler sales of 109,082 units in June 2008 against
107,177 units in the corresponding period of the previous year.
During the month, the company's motorcycle sales posted 9% growth recording
51,409 units in comparison to 47,380 units recorded in June 2007. The Apache RTR
160 continued to contribute towards the growth of motorcycle sales of the
company during this month also. The company hopes to capitalize further in this
segment with the launch of the fuel injection variant of the Apache RTR.
Scooters recorded 21,466 units as against 25,692 units during the same period of
the previous year.
The recently launched TVS Scooty Pep + Wimbledon Collection was made available
in dealerships across the country from 23rd June this year. It has been well
received in the market and the response has been very encouraging. The Wimbledon
Collection comprises of 'Wimbledon Classic' and 'Wimbledon Compete', two
excitingly designed, limited edition scooters, which are inspired by
contemporary, classic and sporty imagery of 'the Spirit of Wimbledon' and have
been brought out as part of TVS Motor Company's one-year licensee agreement with
the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC).
Exports continued its upward growth trend, posting an increase of a robust 64%
registering 15,010 units of two wheelers in June 2008 as against 9,133 units in
the corresponding period of the previous year.
