TVS MOTOR COMPANY RECORDS BEST EVER MONTHLY SALES

Records 21% growth in motorcycles, clocks 1,17,696 units in total two wheeler in October 2004

TVS Motor Company recorded its best ever total two wheeler sales in October 2004.
The preferred motorcycle in the executive segment, TVS Victor recorded a robust sale and spurred the motorcycle sale of October 2004 to 74,683 units compared to 61,777 units recorded last year for the same period, registering an impressive growth of 21%.

The launch of TVS Victor GX 110 CC was received with excellent response across the country and this trend will continue in the coming months. This new version 'Victor GX' comes with a slew of improvements including 'Dura Life' engine, to enhance the engine life of the motorcycle. Victor GLX 125 CC too continued its steady growth. The Victor brand, going by its buoyant demand, has significantly increased its presence in the total motorcycle market in India.

TVS Centra continued to receive a favourable response for its excellent mileage and together with the Victor brand, TVS M has a sizeable share in the executive segment of the motorcycle market in India.

With the launch of TVS Star, the product portfolio of TVS M is now complete and the next two quarters will be the period of consolidation for the company. TVS Star, in the coming months, will fill the gap created by fall in demand for 2-stroke motorcycles and enable significant growth in motorcycle sales. TVS Star, though launched only in three states, has witnessed encouraging off take. The company is ramping up its production to make it available across the country in the next two months.

TVS Scooty continued to dominate the scooterette segment (sub 100 cc category) recording 21,291 units in October 2004 compared to 20,779 units in the same period last year.

TVS Moped clocked 21,722 units in October 2004 compared to 21,752 units during the same period last year. The company continues to maintain its market leadership in mopeds.

The total two wheeler vehicles sold during October 2004 was 1,17,696 units compared to 1,04,308 units sold last year during the same period registering a growth of 13%.

In the export front, TVS Motor Company continued its good performance having exported 3,699 units in October 2004, recording a growth of 77% compared to the same period last year.
